SMITH, Gordon Ronald (1927-2017) The family announces with sorrow his death on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Rose (nee Francoeur) in 2004. He leaves behind his daughter Lynne Mahon (Ken) of South Porcupine and his step-son Reid Powers (Paulette) of Kapuskasing. Loving grandfather of Christopher Mahon (Kim), Scott Powers, Kendra Turgeon (Paul) John Powers (Wendy), Debbie Stewart (Rob), Donna Powers and Doreen Follett (Cliff) and great grandfather of Aiden and Zander Mahon, Brody and Alexandra Powers and Brandon and Brooke Turgeon. Gord will be missed by his step daughter-in-law Jackie Powers of Orleans, ON. Dear brother of Raymond Smith (Jane) of New Richmond, QC and Jeannine Larch of Detroit, Michigan. Predeceased by his parents Louis and Olena Smith, his sister Doris Capeless (Vince) and his step-son Nelson Powers. Dad worked at the Aunor and Kam Kotia Mines and was also a salesman for Hugh J. O'Neil until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage and enjoyed golfing, cross country skiing, curling and playing pool. In his later years, he would enjoy a few winters in Arizona where he made some wonderful friends. The family wish to thank Dr. Malo for his thoughtful care over the years. We would also like to thank the supportive and caring staff of the Spruce Hill Lodge for their friendship with Dad, Dr. Griffiths, Dr. Patel, nurses Amy and Stephanie and the staff of the second floor medical at the Timmins and District Hospital for their genuine care and dedication which were very much appreciated. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel (Deacon Jake Gregorcic officiating). Interment Timmins Memorial Cemetery. Remembrance donations to the Spruce Hill Lodge or the Ontario Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends from 12 noon – 1:45 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre,
