I was telling my Mom and we shared some fond remembrances of the times we had as a family in Timmins. Although it seems like ages ago now, some of my best memories as a young fellow were the times that Peter and I spent hunting and fishing with our fathers. I know you will all miss your father greatly, but take solace that he lived a full life and lives on in the memories of those he touched. Condolence: We are so sorry to learn of the passing of John. We were neighbours on Patricia Blvd. for many many years. John was is one word a " gentleman" He was generous to a fault especially at his drug store. He cared so much for all his patients and served everyone with respect. John had a great sense of humour and was always upbeat. He worked hard all for the love of his work and his family. A great friend and downtown builder is gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace John.

Condolence: I was saddened to recently read about the loss of your father. When I was attending TH&VS during the 1960's your father gave me work in the stock room to give me some spending money. He was a great boss. Also my Mom worked several years for your father behind the pharmacy and always spoke very highly of him. My thoughts are with you all during these difficult days.

I am so saddened by John's passing and at the same time so glad to have spent time with him in January when I was in Timmins. As always, the topic of family came up and his pride shone through when showing me photos and telling me about his grandkids and their accomplishments. As always, I told him it was a tribute to him and Marion that all five of you remained in Timmins and how blessed he was to be surrounded by his family all his life. I met John when I was 12 - he and Marion gave me my first job babysitting Maureen and Peter - and over the years I was in awe of his many talents. He had such a variety of interests and hobbies and did them all well: whether hunting or fishing or golfing, or tending his garden or making crabapple jelly or creating a beautiful piece of art to name just a few. He was truly a man for all seasons! I was so grateful for John's efforts to find a solution to my father's lingering shingles pain. He would be on the phone to me about a study he had read or a new drug he had researched.He was a loyal friend and his and Marion's visits to see my dad in Toronto meant a lot to us. Condolence: How does one expand on the obituary for John? Obviously as expressed, John was a leader, a well educated man deeply involved in Timmins and mostly a family man. Like John, his wife Marion was involved in the community participating in the Kinettes, Vic Mahoney Centre and the St. Mary'sHospital all supported by John. The Wilson Family was and still is insrumental in the success Timmins has become. Yes, the outdoor life was part of John's life and memories of the fishing trips will not be forgotten. Condolence: John gave me my 1st job when I was 13 years old. He was so pleasant with me I. I still talk about the great experience I had (I'm 48 now).
