Obituary for Denise Lafleur-Young

Denise Lafleur-Young
LAFLEUR-YOUNG, DENISE (1964-2017) After an unbelievably courageous battle, it is with great sorrow that we announce her peaceful death at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, June 2, 2017 at age 52 years. Predeceased by her father Marcel Lafleur (2002). Denise is survived by her loving husband John “JY” Young and son Brent (at home) as well as her ever faithful canine companion Sophie. She is also survived by her mother Lorraine Lafleur of Timmins, her brother Rick Lafleur and sister Liette Keller (Rob) both of Timmins and her nephew Michael and nieces Amanda Lafleur, Kristen, Kailyn and Jessica Keller. Dear daughter-in-law of Rick and Margo Young of Timmins and sister-in-law of Lori (Jay) Meunier of Timmins, Terry (Jennifer) Young of Toronto, Dave (Josée) Young of Timmins and Ann (Conrad) Scala of St. Catharines. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Lafleur and Young families. Denise was well known and respected in the Downtown Timmins business community as the longtime owner/operator of William Drew Florists. As a child, she grew up in the flower shop and became owner after the sudden death of her father where she learned quickly to be a “jack of all trades”, passionately working 7 days a week to ensure her clients needs were always met. With relentless resolve, she faced and battled her illness to defy all the odds against her in an effort to see her Brent grow into a young man and she did just that. Those who knew her appreciated her passion for Florida and all things “Disney” and knew that it was those family trips that would recharge her and allow her to live every day to the fullest. Denise was a compassionate soul who will be greatly missed but will never be forgotten. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from St. Anthony’s Cathedral. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, remembrance donations to the Timmins Food Bank or the Oncology Unit at TDH would be appreciated. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the
