Obituary for John P. Wilson

John P. Wilson
WILSON, JOHN P. (1931-2017) It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful death of John "JP" Wilson at Extendicare Timmins on Friday, March 3, 2017 at age 85 years. John was a well respected Pharmacist and community leader in Timmins. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1955. After working with Moisley and Ball Pharmacy, he went on to own Lord's Pharmacy and retired in 2003 as the long time franchisee of Shoppers Drug Mart at Cedar and 3rd downtown. A proud recipient of the Lewis P. Currie Business Man of the Year Award, John was widely involved in the community having been past-president of the Chamber of Commerce, Kinsmen & K-40 Clubs and served on numerous Boards throughout Timmins. He was also admired for his adventurous side as an avid outdoorsman and world traveller...whether it was fishing rivers in the Northwest Territories, golfing St. Andrews or living the dream in Moscow at the 72 Canada-Russia Series, John had done it all and lived life to the fullest. From his many loyal customers to many dear friends and colleagues, he was a true gentleman who will be sorely missed. He was pre-deceased by his wife Marion Wilson in 2008. Dear father of Maureen Swain (Tim), Peter (Joanne), Jim (Cindy), Nancy Legault (Luc) and Michael (Tina) all of Timmins. Survived by his grandchildren Jeffrey Swain (Shawna) , James Swain, Scott Swain, Lindsay and Christopher Wilson, Jenna Wilson, (late Brent Scott), Zack Legault, Michael Jr., Ryan and Haley Wilson and great-grandchildren Sophie, Stella and Wyatt Swain. Also survived by his sister-in-law Kathleen "Kay" Miller (Mike) and their children Michele Curtis (Ken), Ted, Jeffrey and Michael Miller. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 4 p.m. in the Miron-Wilson Funeral Chapel. Remembrance donations to the Timmins & District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
